Pururav (Puru) Ramakrishna is a post-baccalaureate researcher with a BSc in Biological Science and Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh. Puru is fascinated by the complexity of the human brain and its intricacies and hopes to further our understanding of it. With this philosophy in mind, Puru is developing tools that further our insight in the workings of healthy and diseased brains and also performing translational research.Â
Puru’s current projects involveÂ
1) Developing novel optogenetic tools to achieve high-acuity vision restoration for treating retinal diseases causing blindness, like retinitis pigmentosa
2) Developing novel tools for enhanced CT and MRI imaging
3) Developing nanotechnologies for disease therapeutics
Puru is an aspiring neurosurgeon and plans to start medical school in the near future where he will continue his pursuit of building novel tools to improve healthcare
